Monday 15 September 2008 - Lehman Bros. Bank has gone under as reported this morning...
http://uk.news.yahoo.com/rtrs/20080914/tbs-uk-markets-global-7318940.html
John Humphreys on BBC Radio 4 didn't know the difference between insolvency and bankrupt - there is no difference John; they are the same conclusion! Following 'alternative' information, I was expecting another major bank to go under. However, 'alternative' information also led me to believe oil could reach $200/barrel by the end of 2008, yet today it has lowered to $99

Here's the latest 'St. Edmund' and the beginning of a Bury St. Edmunds painting...

Tuesday 16 September 2008 - Philippa Taylor from BBC Suffolk Radio called by to test there is an audible signal at Cornhill Walk. She's planning to interview me Thursday morning. This is Matthew Seddon below. He will be 15 tomorrow, the 17th and I said I'd blog his photo...There you go Mat!

Wednesday 17 September 2008 - My morning chocolate muffin and coffee from the Carver Cafe Restaurant next door...

This is Mrs. Rayner, 87, born in Julanda, India and visiting Cornhill Walk today...

I learned today that 'Martha' of Martha's Vineyard, USA fame, was the daughter of a local man and Martha is buried in Bury St. Edmunds. Sounds like a future exhibition; assuming the USA doesn't go completely bust in the next year or so. The Bury Free Press visited again to photograph 'St. Edmund' and latest painting with working title 'Bloomin' Bury'...

Thursday 18 September 2008 - 8.45am interview with Philippa Taylor of BBC Radio Suffolk at Cornhill Walk...

Making the most of the BBC logo...

A coffee was delivered to me immediately after the interview by The Suffolk Carver, so I've included them in my Bloomin' Bury painting, though you'd need to be closer than this...

What to say? I was reminded of this report today, please watch the interview with ex-BBC reporter Phil Hayton...

Friday 19 September 2008 - Jarman and Joshua from the USA. Joshua lived in Adana, Turkiye for a couple of years. We had an enjoyable meeting...

Are http://www.edgemediatv.com/ using the NPP image Albert Monroe? According to a visitor to Cornhill Walk today, they are. Please let me know Claire McGauley!
Great news - John and Pamela Bateman agreed to purchase 'St. Edmund' and 'Bloomin' Bury? Yeah!' and want the paintings to be available for public view where ever possible. They heard the interview with Philippa on BBC Radio Suffolk Thursday morning. Here's the scene above my head for the last couple of weeks...

Saturday 20 September 2008 - Will from The Suffolk Carver next door dropped by. Will brought a coffee to me the morning of the BBC interview and is ex-Thurston School...

Today, I noticed a girl pointing out 'Allah' in the painting 'Your Way Up'. She's probably Muslim. It's called 'Your Way Up' because to those who do not understand Islamic Arabic scripture, the painting can be viewed any which way up. It's interesting how often people notice details I spent little or no time thinking about. Producing a painting is often an experience of spontaneous flow for me. I was looking forward to a rest after this 14 consecutive day gig, as the umpteenth 'SpongeBob' comment breaks out. Endless children, even in push trolleys, have gone by saying 'SpongeBob!' One moment I'm tiring and even bored, over analysing myself sitting in a shopping centre. Then, a moment of energy breaks out as some one takes an interest and an involved conversation evolves. Despite the enveloping fatigue, it has been a successful venture. I love the 'St. Edmund' painting, yet it is the the 'Bloomin' Bury' painting that has attracted a great deal of interest.

Claire from Edge Media TV has contacted me. They are indeed using Albert Monroe, the painting you can see here on the left...

Unfortunately, it doesn't really show the way the image can 'change'. I'll write to her. Never the less, here's the promo link she sent me...

Jade and Chanise visited the exhibition to add a touch of local glamour to proceedings...

Met Mr. Mike Ames who invites me to display both the new paintings at Cornhill Walk next Sunday for the Bury In Bloom annual awards ceremony. Will be my pleasure!

Tuesday 23 September 2008 - follow-up live on air chat with BBC Radio Suffolk Mark Murphy Show approx. 8.45am with John Bateman to discuss purchase of paintings...

From September 10, 2008 C-SPAN TV, US Representative Ron Paul held a news conference supporting third party presidential candidates and urged support for independent candidates rather than the Republican or Democratic nominees. This is the man who should be the next US President. He speaks so well, his brain is engaged and one feels he genuinely has the public best interest at heart...

Friday 26 September 2008 - In BSE, went to Sprint Print where it will take several days to produce reproductions; I'm used to next day and even same day service in Istanbul. Met Mike Ames. Good chat. Before heading home I grabbed a sandwich from Marks & Spencer; bloody awful. Improved recipe? Are you kidding? I couldn't eat it.

Saturday 27 September 2008 - On a day of laptop Windows virus problems and Arsenal inexplicably losing 1-2 home to Hull City, Luke sends through a message that http://nedpamphilon.blogspot.com/ is back under NPP regime control! Wonderful news Luke. Thank you. Hopefully, the finalised installation of Ubuntu will restore the Windows problem. R-love-ution rules!
Allan brought round a copy of The Bury Citizen, a free newspaper, yet still a significant circulation and there we were bottom front page...

Sunday 28 September 2008 - Attended the annual awards ceremony for Bury In Bloom at Cornhill Walk. Ben drove the paintings in his van...

We had a pint in the Dog & Partridge before the ceremony. I wanted to take Ben to The Nutshell, but it was unexpectedly closed due to unforeseen circumstances. At the ceremony 'Blooming Bury? Yeah!' and 'St. Edmund' took pride of place either side of the stage...

Here's looking forward to the next gig at St. Mary's Church, NPP at Redgrave

Return to Cornhill Walk

Monday 08 September 2008 - Ben drove my paintings and me to Cornhill Walk for a 7am get-in. Security guard Ian was on hand to let us in. Fay was my first paying customer and I told her I'd put HER on the NPP blog. She said she wasn't keen on having her photo taken. I said if she looked and didn't like, I'd remove the photo. I think she looks terrific...

The Eastern Daily Times or Mercury or a paper from Archant Publishing turned up this afternoon. They were expecting 'artist painting live' except I hadn't started; still setting up and talking to people. The reporter Will, who seemed pretty uninterested and in a rush to be elsewhere, asked if I could throw some paint on a canvas for a picture. I politely declined - he has no idea how polite I was. The vibe at Cornhill feels really positive. Turkish girl working as an au pair in Bury St. Edmunds. We spoke Turkish and she understood me!

Tuesday 09 September 2008 - This is for all those who have spare time at work and spend it checking the NPP blog - Becky!! Thanks for the lift home.
This is the view from my desk at the gig looking out toward the front entrance...

Early afternoon, began work on St. (N)Edmund...

14.14hr I put my first paint to canvas in the UK since being back...

A lady visited recommending I check out Maya, an artist at the Cambridge Community Project in Mill Road. I've Googled it, but nothing specific has turned up.
Sad news. Witold is in West Suffolk Hospital. He's 88, survived 5 WWII concentration camps and attended my last Coney Weston NPP gig 3 times. Get better young man!!

Wednesday 10 September 2008 - Roy turned up offering to help out. He'd printed of little hand-out adverts...

Cheers Roy!

Another Turkish girl, another Turkish conversation with Sevgi; which means 'love'...

The latest stage of 'St. Edmund'...

Phil, a photographer from Archant Publishing turned up, Will, a photographer from The Bury Free Press came along and later this afternoon Lindsey from the BFP came to interview me.
Simon Buck dropped by and suggested I check out Arts Council East, so I am...

L1 was probably the only Turk I knew who was aware and waited for this moment for many years. The problem is 'they' know much much more. This is just for the newspapers. The science 'they' know is so far beyond this. Who are 'they'? I don't know, but common sense tells me 'they' must be.

Acquired a car, a Ford KA and drove for the first time in some years. Perhaps I'll take a photo at some point.

Thursday 11 September 2008 - 7th anniversary of 9/11. 'They' know who did it and common sense tells me it wasn't 19 Muslims with box cutters. Just as a reminder for all of you to 'wake up', here's the 16th interview of Larry Sinclair with Jeff Rense...
http://rense.gsradio.net:8080/rense/special/rense_L_Sinclair_090308.mp3

At Cornhill a student knocked over 2 glass framed Rainbow Bridge posters. Money down the drain. Nevermind. Mr. Terry May pointed out that Monroe is spelt Monroe and not Munroe. I hadn't realised and thank you Terry. Having a few conversations with younger people about painting prices and how expensive mine are. It's an interesting subject and the funny thing is I deem the prices of my original work very low. As for cards and posters at 50p and £1 - incredible bargain. This is Felix below who turns up everyday to collect Rainbow Bridge stickers. Goodness where he's sticking them, but good for you Felix!...

This is the latest stage of 'St. Edmund'...

Tonight on ITV they showed highlights of last night's football game Croatia 1-4 England. At 0-3 they went to commercials; actually cutting into the flow of the play. We have become American commercial morons! To make matters worse English players Terry and then James feigned injuries when neither were barely touched if at all. Ponces. They are so typical of today's highly paid ponce footballers. Walcott was wonderful. Wenger remains a bastion of common sense within the game; within the world. It continues to baffle that no one of weight is calling the shots on the false flag operation that was 9/11 and I detest highly paid ponces feigning injury while playing my beloved professional game of football. How much money does a man require to kick a ball and not moan and groan at any opportunity?
And while I'm about it, the US Republican VP candidate had given her first major solo TV interview. What does she support? Israel and God of course! Even French President Sarkozy is talking up religion in 'secular' France...

St. 'N'Edmund latest...

Sunday 14 September 2008 - yesterday Beth from King Edwards School helped me for the day...

Some of the staff from the neighbouring shops posed with me for a photo...

I worked on...

That was all from yesterday, Saturday, as Arsenal won 0-4 at Blackburn. Yeah! A comment: the current fashion of wearing one's jeans half-way down one's backside is ridiculous. It looks ridiculous as does face jewellery such as pieces of metal pierced through eyebrows looks ridiculous. Maybe I've just alienated some customers, but there we have it. Stop folks! It looks ridiculous.

Ed the security guard goes on holiday next week so I won't see him again this time round - cheers Ed! Ian's back on duty tomorrow. This is the state of play end of Sunday...

Tuesday 19 August 2008 - visited Christine Harrod at Cornhill Walk in Bury St. Edmunds. Met Ian the security guard. I think I might produce an exhibition there and display Albert Munroe and co. for a couple of weeks...

Call from HMP Highpoint. Following a meeting with a government representative, my painting gig has been postponed since they are planning building work at the prison; not much point in painting a wall about to be knocked down.

Friday 22 August 2008 - Julian arranged for my visit to The Shrubbery 1-5pm to record a dozen songs with acoustic guitar and Richard the sound engineer...

Afterwards, Julian and I went to Valley Connection for a curry: 42 Churchgate Street 01284 753 161. We walked in and were asked if we had made a booking? The attitude was not overly welcoming, however the place was virtually empty, so we were allotted a table.

Friday 29 August 2008 - yesterday early evening and early this morning went up in a balloon with Neil, Ivan and Martine.

Tuesday 02 September 2008 - the rain pours, the radio is on, Man City have bought Robinho for £32million, the £ loses value against the Euro, I send out a Cornhill Press Release, deliver some A4 posters to local contacts, visit Ben to confirm a van to collect my paintings for delivery to Bury St. Edmunds on Monday. This is funny and informative: Camera Shy Big Brother...

Thursday 04 September 2008 - yesterday met security guard Ed at Cornhill Walk and enjoyed a most congenial chat. Today I'd like to mention the motto of the Borough of St. Edmundsbury:
Sacrarium Regis, Cunabula Legis
which means:
Shrine of a King, Cradle of the Law
...well, 869 AD the Danes killed St Edmund, King of the Angles and hence his shrine is the area of BSE. Kings and Queens? History infers they have a tendency to borrow and steal the public purse, but anyway, more importantly for me today, in 1214 the barons of England met in the Abbey church and swore an oath that they would force King John to accept the Charter of Liberties which became known as the 'Magna Carta'; for those who wish to know...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magna_Carta

Watch this space for a new portrait of St. Edmund to be painted live at Cornhill Walk Bury St. Edmunds. Now, photography was a tad limited in 869 AD and the only drawn or painted depictions of St. Edmund are vague to say the least, so this new portrait may be more 'Nedmund' than Edmund. On the crown I intend to have the date 1214. It may be a drop in the ocean, but it may start ripples and waves as per taking action as is currently within my power to do so. The first local newspaper interview I'm told will be Monday 08 Sept afternoon. Let's see what acorns can be planted.

I like this speech by Jesse Ventura...

Now, on the one hand, it is interesting and if accurate, concerning news about future corporate plans for the internet; basically the public will pay for restricted access to material now readily available and free. On the other hand there is an 'ad' inviting you to click onto 'advice from Tania'. She looks and sounds most entertaining, but it does rather weaken the powerful message of corporate internet take over.

Sunday 07 September 2008 - Parish Councilor Joanne Spicer officially opened the new Coney Weston village children's playground...

It was pissing with rain yet 50-75 people turned up. It was a really cool turn out, the rain ceased for an hour or so, there was free wine and the sun even shone down on us. A super cool event..
